Lisa’s Bio

Lisa Swallow is the Co-Founder and Executive Director of Crossing Party Lines, a national nonprofit that creates open dialogue between Americans with dissimilar ideologies in order to increase tolerance, build communities, and encourage civic engagement. She is an Advisor for America Talks, and a member of the Alliance for Peacebuilding. She has developed a series of workshops teaching the concepts, skills, and techniques for having civil, respectful conversations with people who view the world differently and currently offers coaching and training for difficult conversations.

She has also authored dozens of articles and posts, multiple papers in the field of communication, and holds a patent in microlithography. Her artwork is in the permanent collection at the Smithsonian Institution and her short stories have appeared in multiple anthologies.
